Manufacturers of Equipment for applications such as POS, EFTPOS,
ATM's, Access Control, Passbooks and Car Parking are able to select
Heads conforming to the following International Standards:
FINANCIAL TRANSACTION CARDS
The physical characteristics of these Plastic Credit Cards conform
to I.S.O.7810 and utilise up to Three separate tracks, the location
of these tracks and Magnetic parameters for both Low Coercivity
(LoCo) and High Coercivity (HiCo) cards are defined in following
documents I.S.O. 7811-1/ 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 and 7813
a) Track One is used for I.A.T.A ( International Association of
Travel Agents), storing Data at 210 Bits per Inch and Capacity
of 79 Alpha Numeric Characters
b) Track Two is used for A.B.A. ( American Banking Association),
storing Data at 75 Bits per Inch and Capacity of 40 Numeric Characters
c) Track Three is used by the Financial Service Industry and maybe
known as THRIFT and meets the I.S.O.format ,storing Data at 210
Bits per Inch and Capacity of 107 Numeric Characters
AUTOMATED TICKET / BOARDING PASS
These coupons are being widely used by both Airlines and Railways
, where it is necessary to record and process passenger information
automatically. In this case a magnetic stripe is adhered to the
Airline Boarding Pass or to Railway ticket .The physical and magnetic
characteristics of these paper based coupons conform to I.A.T.A.1722
c and utilise Four separate tracks, storing Data at 210 Bits per
Inch and up to a Capacity of 640 Alpha Numeric Characters
SAVINGS BOOKS
In this case a PASSBOOK is used by both Building Societies and
the P.T.T companies (Post and Telecommunication) the standard
conforming to I.S.O 8484 Magnetic Stripes on Savings Books. This
requires one track, storing Data at 210 Bits per Inch and Capacity
of up to 108 - 5 bit characters.
